Phillip Francis

At Los Angeles Fairfax H.S., Phillip won the 2001 California State High School 100m title in 10.53 and was the Invitational H.S. 100 and 200 meter champion at the Mt. SAC Relays. He went on to attend USC where he ran 10.39 as a freshman and anchored USC’s NCAA West Regional Championship 4x 100m Relay. As a sophomore he improved to 10.35 in the 100 and won the West Regional title, while starting to emerge as a 200 meter sprinter, running 20.94 to win the UCLA dual meet. As a junior, he ran a career best 10.24 100m vs. UCLA and a leg of Trojans' 4th place 4x 100m Relay at the 2005 NCAA Championships. In 2006, Phillip was named “Athlete of the Meet” at the PAC-10 Championships after winning the 100m (10.23) and 200m (20.59) titles and running a leg of USC’s winning 4x 100m Relay (39.75). At the West Regional Championships, he was 2nd in the 100m (10.30), defended his 200m title (20.46), and ran the 2nd leg of the Trojans’ winning 4x 100m relay team. Phillip ended the 2006 season with a degree in American Studies from USC, a #28 U.S. ranking at 100 meters, and a #12 ranking at 200 meters.
