TEAM ROSTER Nick Garcia
A physics and physical education teacher at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks where he has developed a stable of more than 40 boys and girls throwers for one of the State’s top high school track programs. Graduated from Cal State Northridge in 2002, where he was a Big Sky Conference champion in the shot put and an NCAA qualifier. Recently earned his MS degree in Kinesiology to add to his USATF Level-II Certification in the throws and NSCA certification as a National Strength & Conditioning Specialist. Nick is both a competing athlete and one of the throws coaches for the VS Athletics Track Club. At the 2007 USATF National Club Championships he was one of only 5 athletes who were able to defend their 2006 titles in the meet’s 38 individual events. He also contributed 6th place points in the discus and was instrumental in the VS Athletics Track Club winning 3rd place team honors. Finished the season undefeated in the Southern California Summer Grand Prix Series for the 2nd year in a row.His goals include qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2008.
