An Orange County native, David Ojeda first competed in track and cross country in 6th grade and later at Santa Ana Valley High School. A 2002 graduate of USC with a B.A. degree in Kinesiology, his track and cross country seasons as a Trojan were plagued by sickness, injury and inconsistency.
Having cross country eligibility remaining after graduation, David decided to compete for Orange Coast College while taking some graduate courses. There, he served as team captain for two seasons and helped the Pirates win the California JUCO State Cross Country Championships in 2003, while improving his 4-mile and 8K bests to 19:38 and 25:05. He then took a 3-year hiatus from running while studying for a doctorate degree in physical therapy at USC.
After graduating in 2007, he now works in a Santa Monica outpatient clinic specializing in orthopaedics and sports medicine. Determined to return to an elite-level of competitive racing, David hopes to lower his 1500m, 5000m, and steeplechase PR's in his first season with VS athletics and eventually qualify for the U.S. championships.
PRs: 800m- 1:56.18, Mile/1500m- 4:15.24/3:56.56, 3000m Steeplechase- 9:24.02, Road 5K- 14:39
